Ghost of Thanksgiving Weekend Snowstorm

This little write-up tells the tale of the snowstorm that my parents always told me about.  They had gone down to Ann Arbor to visit each of their families when the forecast called for 1″ of light accumulation.  By the end of the day they had quite a bit more than an inch on the ground, and it was difficult to get back home to the Genesee County area. Bio-Fuels From Non-Food Sources

When bio-fuels first went into high gear (no pun intended), the price of corn and other commodities rose very quickly and made it impossible for some to afford the basic food on their tables.  It was especially hard in places like Mexico, where many of their fine cuisine depends upon corn.  Several companies are now looking to other organics and waste products to use as possible alternate bio-fuel possibilities. Historic Shipwreck Discovered with Help From NOAA

Maritime archaeologists today announced they have recently identified the wreck of the historic slave ship Trouvadore off the coast of East Caicos in the Turks and Caicos Islands. NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration and Research significantly funded several years of archaeological research leading to the discovery by Don Keith and Toni Carrell, from Ships of Discovery, an underwater archaeology research institute.

Atlantic Hurricane Season Sets Records
